RouteMaster-Lite

A standalone application for routing control of NDI® sources and destinations

RouteMaster-Lite is based on our powerful RouteMaster technology and is designed to provide comprehensive, cost-effective router control for NDI® (Newtek’s IP protocol) sources up to maximum 20×20 router size, particularly, though not exclusively, suitable for OB and production environments. RouteMaster-Lite works in three key ways to present operators in an NDI® environment with familiar, and therefore easy-to-use, router control interfaces:

  • Virtualisation of the NDI® source and destination devices (the IP addresses) in the system making them sources and destinations on a virtual NDI® router
  • Allows full router source/destination control via a web panel or a hardware control panel that will be familiar to operators
  • Provides control via hardware router control panels

One of the key issues with working in the video-over-IP domain is that while taking advantage of the connectivity it allows, operators must still be presented with interfaces with which they are familiar and can use in the heat of the moment.

WHAT IS NDI®

NDI®, NewTek’s innovative Network Device Interface technology, is a royalty free standard enabling IP video workflows across Ethernet networks. NDI® is a bi-directional standard that allows video systems to identify and communicate with one another over IP, and to encode, transmit, and receive multiple streams of broadcast-quality, low latency, frame-accurate video and audio in real time. The NDI® encoding algorithm is resolution and frame rate independent, supporting up to 4K and beyond, as well as multi-channel, floating-point audio up to 16 channels and beyond. NDI® also includes tools to implement video access and grouping, bi-directional metadata, tally, and more.

ClockWork

A standalone application for automated and manual control of routers

A simple-to-use, standalone PC-based application that provides both automated time-of-day and full manual video and audio router control.

This Windows PC application works with video and audio routers from all leading manufacturers.

Customers need to be able to automate switching, and also have manual control, and require a cost-effective, functionally appropriate solution to the problem. ClockWork is the answer.

We know that trying to achieve time-of-day router switching with frame accuracy, or close to, using automation systems is either expensive and very complex to achieve or is effectively impossible.

  • Designed to provide cost-effective automated switching, ClockWork can control the switching of up to 64 inputs/64 outputs of a router. Routers of smaller input/output sizes are also supported.
  • Self-contained configuration provides for straightforward setup of the system including router IP address, comm port configuration and so on.
  • A standard dialog box is provided to allow operators to schedule switches via an intuitive user interface. These switches can be one-off or scheduled to repeat on a daily/weekly basis.
  • A single control panel, on which the number of buttons change to reflect the number of inputs/outputs up to 64 x 64, is provided in ClockWork. This means that a variety of control scenarios are catered for, providing operators with a familiar router control panel layout, allowing them (not operators) to easily use the technology without having to use a hardware control panel that’s often buried away in a facility.
